So today is a big day – we’re off to see the primary care physician for our annual physical / wellness. We’ve had the same doctor for nearly 20 years and I think this may be the first time in the last 10 years that my weight will be lower and my health will be better. And I AM EXCITED!
As a younger adult I ran to the doctor all the time – before I learned that the antibiotics were only treating the results – not affecting the source of the dis-ease. I have an allergy to milk products. NO I am not lactose intolerant, but I get a sinus reaction: increased mucus, blocked sinuses, severe sinus headaches. In something I read, it talked about milk and dairy causing these problems – so I tested it. Gave up dairy for a month or so and came off all my sinus meds. I took over-the-counter decongestant pills about 4 days a week. As a test I had a bowl of ice cream and BAM raging sinus headache complete with near infection. Staying away from dairy has helped me reduce the medication even more. From weekly, to a few times a year and now almost never. Before the CLEAN I’d have a little dairy and had minor reactions. Aside from a few errant cheese sprinkles I don’t know if dairy will be a part of my diet again. Once day at a time. So aside from the gall bladder checkup and a few other oddities (we’ll call them oddities, because even I believe there is still a thing called “over sharing”) there’s been very little reason for doctor visits since I started on this healthier journey 4 years ago.
So I am hoping that our doctor is able AND willing to order additional blood tests for us – we want to see MORE than just the CBC / Lipid Panel tests. We’ll see, and try to educate him as well If not I think we’ve found another doctor in Jacksonville who offers additional blood testing services.
We’ll be sure to bring our Kindle to show him the CLEAN program – because I know he’ll want to know how we’re achieving our success. After all, last year he was reassuring me that a Lap Band may be the very best treatment for me. After the results we’ve gotten with the CLEAN, I don’t think so…
